| What are the order of belts / grades and how long does it take? |
|
Beginners start on White belt, and then progress through the following range.
Purple belt can be added about midway for the Rolleston junior Jujutsu class members and the Karate Jutsu class at Crichton Cobbers. It takes anywhere from 5-7 years to train for and attain the rank of Shodan (first degree black belt) in either Jujutsu or Karate Jutsu. Once you reach this grade you will be expected to gain coaching qualifications from SPARC (Sport and Recreational Council), the NZJJF (NZ Jujitsu Federation), and be examined for graded membership into the United Kingdom Jujitsu Federation and Dai Nippon Butoku Kai. A first aid certificate will also need to be sat and passed. |
